Scott McTominay, a midfielder for Manchester United, has been linked to West Ham United since the summer of 2022. McTominay has been a very reliable player for United over the past five years or so. West Ham is reportedly chasing McTominay this summer.
Now that David Moyes has failed, Julen Lopetegui may attempt to succeed by bringing the Man United midfield star to the London Stadium.
This summer, the Spaniard has already bolstered his central defensive, goalkeeping, and right wing positions.
Jhon Duran is rumored to be the main target for the position of center forward, so that will undoubtedly be the next item on the list.
But after completing the striker acquisition, Lopetegui might turn his focus to strengthening his central midfield unit.
That’s where McTominay might be useful.
But there’s one major issue the Hammers might run into this summer as we try to capture the formidable Scot.
Scott McTominay could be heading to West Ham
The Scotland international would be ideal for the Hammers’ box-to-box role as a central midfielder.
He would be Edson Alvarez’s perfect partner due to his incredible energy, athleticism, and endurance, with the Mexican positioned right in front of the back four.
And now the Man United man arriving at the London Stadium this summer seems like it could well be a reality.
The Hammers want to sign McTominay from Man United this summer, according to a report from Caught Offside.
It appears that things won’t be as simple as they seem.
This is due to reports that Newcastle wants to oust the Scottish player from Old Trafford as well, and Manchester United hasn’t even made up their mind to sell him.
His current contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer of 2019, although Man United has the option to extend it by an additional year.
They therefore hold a great deal of authority. Despite this, I believe Lopetegui should make every effort to get McTominay, as he would be a fantastic addition to the London Stadium.
The 27-year-old Manchester United player has consistently demonstrated his superior Premier League performance.
McTominay has an abundance of strength and athleticism, and he moves quickly on the ground and in the tackle.
His fighting attitude and genuine aggression on the field would be a huge asset to West Ham.
Once, according to the official Manchester United website, McTominay “wows the Old Trafford fans.”
It would be a significant declaration of purpose from Lopetegui and company if West Ham were to recruit Scott McTominay from Manchester United this summer.
