West Ham United head coach Julen Lopetegui is clearly scrambling to bolster his ranks before the start of the new season.

Julen Lopetegui has been relentlessly searching for new additions for West Ham this summer, alongside director of football Tim Stiedten.

The Hammers head coach has already brought in three new signings – Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman.

Lopetegui is believed to be chasing six new signings this summer at the very least, so he clearly still has a lot of work to do.

The Spaniard will definitely be prioritising the addition of a new striker before the start of the new season.

That said, it could be argued that he needs to strengthen pretty much every department at the London Stadium.

In addition to a new striker, he needs a couple of full-backs, a box-to-box midfielder, a left winger and another centre-back.

Central defence is clearly an area where he’s certainly not done bolstering just yet, after another name was linked with us this morning…

West Ham want 6ft 5in giant Nikola Milenkovic

So the Hammers are apparently in the hunt for the Fiorentina ace.

According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, West Ham are showing an interest in signing long-term target Nikola Milenkovic this summer.

David Moyes desperately tried to bring the 6ft 5in Serbian centre-back to the London Stadium during his time in charge of the club, but failed to do so.

Milenkovic would be a stunning signing for West Ham, and would undoubtedly form a superb partnership with Kilman.

He was magnificent for La Viola last season. Described as an ‘extraordinary defender’ by x-sport news, Milenkovic is a truly elite centre-back.

Meanwhile, back in 2018, ESPN described the Fiorentina star as ‘unstoppable’.

In 34 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina last term, the 24-year-old averaged 1.2 tackles, 0.8 interceptions and 2.6 clearances per match. He also won an average of 3.3 aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

Let’s hope that Lopetegui succeeds where Moyes failed, and manages to bring Milenkovic to West Ham this summer.

Whether or not we are able to beat Nottingham Forest to his signature remains to be seen though.
