Leeds United are about to confirm the permanent sale of Glen Kamara to French side Stade Rennais, and are already plotting a move to sign a Tottenham player as his replacement.

Kamara, 28, is to complete a move to Rennes on Tuesday after Fabrizio Romano said Finnish star Kamara would undergo a medical at the Ligue 1 side tomorrow. Kamara was absent in the latest training video.

His exit leaves Leeds light in midfield, in a position where Daniel Farke was lacking anyway. Archie Gray has left to join Tottenham, Ethan Ampadu is in defence and Jamie Shackleton has joined Sheffield United.

It leaves Leeds with just Ilia Gruev, new signing Joe Rothwell and untried rookie Charlie Crew. Leeds need to replace Kamara and Planet Sport now say that The Whites have already identified their replacement.

Leeds identify replacement for Kamara, prepare loan-to-buy deal

Earlier in the window, Leeds tried to include Oliver Skipp in talks with Tottenham amid Gray’s £40m move to Spurs. Those talks saw the two clubs agree a £10m permanent switch for Wales defender Joe Rodon.

But Spurs rejected Leeds’ approach to try and include Skipp. However, Planet Sport say despite that bid being turned down, Leeds are going back in for a player key to Daniel Farke’s second Norwich promotion.

The report states that Spurs would only consider Skipp’s exit if they brought in a replacement first. The Whites are considering a loan-to-buy deal to sign Skipp, who is said to be keen on a move to Leeds.

What Daniel Farke has said about Tottenham’s Skipp in the past

Only suspension stopped Skipp from completing a full 46 Championship games during his season under Farke. While he only scored one, he was invaluable to Norwich and Farke as they won The Championship.

Farke said about Skipp: “My actions speak louder than my words. He plays each and every second for more or less each and every game for such a good side. He’s a top player and also a top character.”

If Leeds can get Skipp, even if they have to go and cover the majority of his £49,000-a-week Spurs wage, then they should. But it does seem unlikely and more foreseeable that a Premier League side are keen.
