Sunderland could yet lose another major star with European giants Lazio set to re-ignite their interest.

The transfer window is well underway as Regis Le Bris attempts to shape his squad for the 2024/25 campaign.

Preparations for the new season have already begun as the Black Cats played their first two friendlies on the weekend.

However, Sunderland could still lose many of their stars this summer. Jack Clarke has been subject to widespread speculation throughout the summer.

Now, one player whose immediate Sunderland future looked certain earlier this month could still leave the club after another development.

Lazio could re-ignite their interest in Jobe Bellingham

Jobe Bellingham’s Sunderland future has been subject to widespread speculation throughout the summer.

Both Crystal Palace and Brentford were believed to have bid for Bellingham earlier this transfer window. However, Sunderland have managed to hold onto the prize midfielder thus far.

In early July, it was also reported that Bellingham was planning to stay at the Black Cats for at least one more season, which will no doubt be a big boost for Le Bris.

Yet, it has now been reported that Lazio may attempt to sway the youngster to leave the Stadium of Light for Italy this summer.

According to Il Messaggero via Tuttomercatoweb, the Serie A side are looking to purchase the midfielder this summer if they cannot bring Mason Greenwood to the club.

Bellingham is seen as ‘plan B’ by Lazio with the cost likely to be around 15 million euros according to the outlet.

Jobe Bellingham unlikely to move to Lazio

As previously mentioned, it has been reported that Bellingham sees his short-term future at Sunderland as they prepare for the 2024/25 campaign.

It would be extremely surprising for the midfielder to change his mind, especially if it is to move to Lazio.

Sunderland are also very unlikely to accept 15 million euros for the 18-year-old. It had previously been reported that Sunderland would want a fee in excess of £20 million for Bellingham.

Therefore, despite the article’s claims, it seems unlikely that Bellingham will move to Lazio this summer.
