Nottingham Forest are stepping up their efforts to sign new players and now one deal is edging extremely close to completion.
A new defender has been in the offing since the end of last month when Forest allowed Moussa Niakhate to leave for Lyon.
The Reds are now in talks over a deal for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic – and the deal could be drawing to a conclusion.
It was claimed by Gianluca Di Marzio last night that Forest were close to agreeing a fee with Fiorentina for Milenkovic.
Forest are going to give Milenkovic a contract worth around £67,000-a-week and now there are more reports updating the progress of this deal.

The Serbian defender is now preparing to say his goodbyes to his Fiorentina teammates.
It’s been claimed by Tutto Mercato Web that a medical has now been booked for Milenkovic tomorrow.
The player will then put pen to paper on a long-term contract that will run until June 2029 at the City Ground.
Milenkovic has spent seven years at Fiorentina and in the last two seasons he’s helped them reach the UEFA Conference League final.
Now, he’s swapping Seria A for the Premier League and with a medical in place it does feel as though things are getting much closer.

This would be a truly good piece of business from a Forest perspective and he’d fill a definite void in the squad.
The player started every game for Serbia at Euro 2024 but was unable to prevent his country from going out at the group stages.
Milenkovic has played 264 times in Italy and at 6ft 5in he should provide some serious steel to the Forest rearguard.
At 26-years-old, the defender has yet to reach his peak and it’s exciting that Forest are getting him ahead of that period.
Milenkovic isn’t going to break the bank and it means they should be able to finalise the rest of their squad too.
Proof will naturally come in the player’s performances but it’s been quite refreshing to see Forest act quickly and in a professional manner with this deal.
