Celtic have completed the signing of former Durham forward Saoirse Noonan on a free transfer.

The Glasgow giants announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

Noonan joins The Ghirls upon the expiry of her contract at former club Durham.

The 25-year-old Republic of Ireland international forward started her career at SSE Airtricity League Women’s Premier Division club Cork City before enjoying a short spell with Shelbourne. Noonan moved to England in summer 2022 and joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Durham. Noonan made 41 appearances for The Wildcats in the second tier in which she scored seven goals.

In her time at Durham, Noonan scored important goals against neighbours Sunderland in both league and cup while she was a member of the squad that famously defeated Barclays Women’s Super League high-flyers Manchester United on penalties in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup.

The player left Durham with a good reputation and she will now be aiming to build her profile further north of the border at Celtic. Noonan joins a Celtic side that won a first SWPL 1 title in 2023/2024. She will be hoping to help The Ghirls continue their success both domestically and in Europe in the upcoming campaign
