Leeds United are in the running to sign Bournemouth forward Daniel Jebbison on loan this summer, according to Graeme Bailey.
The journalist reported via HITC on Thursday (18 July) that while the Whites missed out on signing the 21-year-old permanently this summer, they are eager to secure his services on a temporary basis.
Championship rivals Sunderland also want to sign the Cherries forward and have shown a stronger interest than Daniel Farke’s side as they want him to lead their attack under Regis Le Bris this season.
Any deal that allows Jebbison to leave Bournemouth this summer will be a straight loan deal with no option or obligation to buy included as the Cherries aren’t willing to lose him permanently.
Will Leeds United beat Sunderland in the transfer race for Daniel Jebbison?
Leeds United need to be in the market for a new centre-forward this summer as the current options at Farke’s disposal have all struggled to consistently deliver at the top end of the pitch.
Georginio Rutter is an exceptional talent but didn’t manage to find the net regularly last term while Joel Piroe flattered to deceive for much of the campaign following his big-money transfer from Swansea City.
Patrick Bamford shone in the second half of the season but has struggled with injuries throughout his career and is unlikely to be available every week while Mateo Joseph is still relatively unproven at this level.
Jebbison may not have played loads of football, but he is widely regarded as an incredibly bright talent and he would add a different dimension to Leeds’ attack that could only be a good thing in the race for promotion.
The only issue the Whites could face is the fact that Bournemouth will want him to be playing regular first-team football if he is allowed out on loan and that may be more readily available at Sunderland than it is at Elland Road.
