Leeds United are closing in on their fourth signing of the summer.

The Whites have brought in three new players since the start of the window, two of which were involved in the pre-season opener against Harrogate Town on Friday night.

Joe Rodon’s £10 million return from Tottenham was the first to be confirmed at the beginning of the month, with Alex Cairns following him from Salford City a few days later.

Joe Rothwell then became the first proper new first team face to arrive at Elland Road, putting pen-to-paper on a season-long-loan deal from Bournemouth.

However, given the players who have left this summer, there is still plenty of work to do in terms of incomings, as shown by how light Leeds’ bench was on Friday night.

Major update emerges on Leeds’ Jayden Bogle pursuit

Right-back is very much of an area of priority right now, with Daniel Farke even having to adjust the formation in Harrogate as a result of his lack of options.

However, that could well be about to change this summer with Leeds closing in on one of their top targets for the position.

Former loanee Connor Roberts had been linked earlier in the summer, but Sheffield United’s Jayden Bogle is the man who has emerged as Leeds’ first choice.

Leeds saw two bids rejected earlier this week but according to the Sheffield Star, progress has now been made between the two clubs towards agreeing a deal.

As such, Bogle is expected to be granted permission to miss the Blades’ pre-season friendly against Chesterfield today in order for his move to Elland Road to be finalised.

Sheffield United had been demanding £7m for Bogle and so it will be interesting to see what sort of compromise has been reached, given they were some way from the valuation in their first two offers.

Bogle signing a real statement for Leeds

Bringing in a player of his calibre from a potential promotion rival is a clear statement of intent from Leeds.

Given how worried some supporters have been on social media regarding the lack of action, this is exactly the sort of deal that was needed.

Leeds are also set to fly out to Germany for their pre-season tour in the coming days and having him on board for that will be important for the start of the season.

Hopefully he is the first of many to come before Leeds’ opening game of the season against Portsmouth next month.
