The bad news for Everton could now begin to mount up following their takeover collapse on Friday morning.

Sean Dyche‘s side were able to put smiles on some faces of Everton fans on Friday evening, however, as they completed a comeback in their 3-3 draw against Sligo Rovers.

But the main story to come from Friday was The Friedkin Group’s decision to pull out of the race to take over of Everton.

The takeover frustration is not said to be putting Everton’s summer plans at risk with Everton remaining in a solid financial situation.

After all, Everton are now closing in on the potential singing of winger Jesper Lindstrom on an initial loan.

But there is one player who they could be set to lose out on after Celtic enter the frame for his signature.

Everton could be set to lose out to Celtic in race for midfielder

Despite the takeover debacle unfolding in the background at Goodison Park, the summer has gotten off to a solid start in terms of Everton’s transfer dealings.

Two new faces have been brought through the door and players have departed to help balance the books against last month’s PSR scare.

Amadou Onana is expected to bring in around £50m with the midfielder set to join Aston Villa.

Everton were hoping to sign ‘complete’ midfielder Tanner Tessmann on loan as his replacement with the American looking set to join Inter Milan for £6m before heading to Merseyside.

That possibility now looks in major doubt.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the proposed deal between Venezia and Inter for Tessmann has now collapsed.

The midfielder will no longer be making the move to the San Siro with no agreement reached between Inter and the player’s agent.

This, in turn, means the 22-year-old’s potential summer loan to Everton is now off the cards.

And there are already clubs looking to pick up the pieces with five European sides keen to sign the American midfielder.

Celtic are reportedly one of those clubs with Brentford, Torino, Parma and Como all in the mix.

Everton suffer another sucker punch

It is turning out to be a dismal end to the week at Goodison Park with things just not going the way Everton fans will have wanted.

However, in terms of the loan deal which has fallen through, Everton still have plenty of time to find their potential replacement for Onana.

After all, the Belgian midfielder has not even completed his move to Villa Park yet.

The Toffees have looked like they are meaning business in this summer’s transfer window and – although this may be a blow – there is still well over a month to bring in some new faces.
