A fourth signing of the summer has been confirmed by Leeds United with the £5m arrival of Jayden Bogle. The right-back has signed a four-year deal at Elland Road after Sheffield United accepted a bid from the Whites.

The 23-year-old helps to fill one of the gaping holes in Daniel Farke’s squad after the departure of six different right-back options since the start of last season. Bogle completed a medical on Saturday and will link up the first-team squad for their training camp in Germany.

Bogle’s signature follows Joe Rodon’s, Alex Cairns’s and Joe Rothwell’s at Elland Road this summer. Rodon and Rothwell each played in the first public friendly of the summer at Harrogate Town on Friday night, though Cairns was only involved in the warm-up.

Archie Gray, Luke Ayling, Jamie Shackleton, Djed Spence, Connor Roberts and Cody Drameh were all right-back options under contract at one point or another last season. Their exits had left Farke with only Sam Byram as a natural fit in that corner of the field.

Acquiring Bogle will hugely help the situation. The former England under-20 international was into the final year of his contract at Bramall Lane and made it clear to Chris Wilder he wanted to move to Elland Road.

The Whites initially went in with a bid around £3m and were told the Blades wanted closer to £7m. The negotiations landed at £5m and Leeds are delighted to have their man with the critical training camp on the continent to come
