Nottingham Forest have had lots of success in recent transfer windows when it comes to signing players from the South American market.

Last summer, the club paid just £10.4 million to sign Murillo, with the Reds beating Manchester City to his signature.

Before that Danilo cost just £16 million from Palmeiras, with Gustavo Scarpa proving one of the lesser players to sign for the club from Brazil.

Nicolas Dominguez checked in from Bologna but is of Argentinean heritage, whilst Gonzalo Montiel made a small impact during his loan from Sevilla.

This summer, Carlos Miguel has checked in from Corinthians and the 6ft 8in goalkeeper might not be the last to sign from the Brazilian top-flight this summer.

Nottingham Forest want Gustavo Nunes

It will come as a shock to precisely nobody of a Nottingham Forest persuasion that the club are scouting the South American market once more.

The latest player in the sights of Forest is Gremio youngster Nunes who is being courted by a number of clubs this summer.

Newcastle provide Forest with competition from the Premier League, whilst Girona are also monitoring the player’s situation.

This news comes from Kaliel Dorneles who has posted on X and he believes that proposals are being made for te player.

Gremio could be tempted to sell for around £10 million but the Brazilian club will want to receive a percentage of any resale value.

Nunes is a product of the youth academy at Nunes and during the current campaign, he’s made the step up.

In games across the first-team and development squad, he’s scored eight goals and registered six assists, with his position typically on the left wing.

Nunes could be perfect for Forest

At 18 it would perhaps be a risk to sign Nunes and expect him to make an immediate impact in a league as challenging as the Premier League.

However, he might be exactly the sort of player that Forest are looking for to act as competition for Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga.

It’s a shame that Nunes is right-footed as the two aforementioned wingers are also more comfortable on their right side.

Still, he is familiar with actually operating on the left-hand side and that should make him an attractive proposition for Forest.

Nunes has a contract until 2028 with Gremio and as a result, they will be able to command whatever fee they deem necessary for his services.

It’s good that Forest are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to sign new players and Nunes looks like another exciting Brazilian starlet.

The player idolises Neymar and if he enjoys a career half as successful as his then whoever gets Nunes will be on to a winner.
