Dan Bardell believes that Wilfried Gnonto’s future at Leeds United is directly linked to if Crysencio Summerville leaves.
Fabrizio Romano reported on 22 July that West Ham have made an opening offer for the Championship Player of the Year.
Gnonto has similarly been linked away from Elland Road, with Caught Offside reporting on 17 July that Everton are preparing a bid.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that Leeds could hold off letting the Italian go until they know the future of Summerville.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Bardell said: “A move could depend on Summerville this summer, he has been linked to West Ham.
“I think to lose both would be a blow. I think the longer it goes on the better chance that Leeds have to keep Summerville because the level of club he wants would have moved earlier in the window.
“If he doesn’t go they could look to bring some funds in by selling Gnonto for £15m-£20m and stomach the difference.
“I think Gnonto’s future is directly tied to Summerville.“
Wilfried Gnonto could leave Leeds United
The former Italian international didn’t really pull up any trees in the Championship last campaign with eight goals and two assists in 39 appearances [FotMob].
With that being said, it could prove to be beneficial to sell the 20-year-old to bring in funds for Daniel Farke to build a squad ready for the new season.
If Summerville does leave Leeds this summer then Gnonto’s importance at Elland Road will only increase and that has to be considered.
Should the Dutchman confirm a move to West Ham or even Stade Rennais [Sam C], the fee received should be enough to find a positive replacement.
There is a decision to be made over both players but may prove to be out of the Whites’ hands.
