According to Roger Hannah, Philippe Clement wants Todd Cantwell, James Tavernier, and Connor Goldson “out” of the Rangers and is getting ready for life without them.

Three players from Ibrox have been connected to departures: Cantwell [Scottish Sun, 22 July], Tavernier [Rangers Review, 23 July], and Goldson [Super Sport, 22 July]. Trabzonspor has made an offer for Tavernier.

While Goldson was a substitute in the Gers’ preseason match against Manchester United, Tavernier and Cantwell were not present. According to Scottish Sun writer Hannah, Clement is already considering options outside the three.

“Philippe Clement is preparing for a future without Tavernier, without Goldson, without Cantwell, and probably without two or three others as well,” he stated in a statement posted on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on July 23, 18:29.

In addition to giving them some extra cash to spend, he wants them out in order to free up the large salaries that many of these players are receiving.

In light of transfer rumors involving Ibrox, will Todd Cantwell leave Rangers?
As he finally attempted to add his own touch to the team that Michael Beale had left behind in Glasgow, Clement had always maintained that this would be a summer of transition at Ibrox.

The Belgian now finds himself in a scenario where he must let go of some players before making any further additions due to the Gers’ present financial predicament, which has made it harder than anticipated for him.

Hannah makes the argument that the Rangers manager has his sights set on the next campaign and has no problem keeping Goldson off of starting lineups while Cantwell and Tavernier are left off of preseason squads altogether.

While it is true that both players have injury concerns, their quick return to the field after recovering is not certain. It is possible that Clement will reject them even if they are accessible and suitable.

In the upcoming weeks, as pre-season preparations intensify and transfer negotiations heat up, more information will probably become available.

But for now, it appears like the Gers are getting ready to play without their trio of players who have an exit ticket.
