Celtic have remained relatively quiet in the transfer window compared to their Glasgow rivals who are on a massive rebuilding project.

Brendan Rodgers has assured the fans that the Bhoys will sign more players before the end of the window to bolster their squad.

The central talking point at the moment is the future of Matt O’Riley who has been chased by a host of clubs.

Celtic have received multiple bids for the Denmark midfielder in recent weeks from Atalanta and Southampton, but none of the clubs have come close to meeting the valuation set by the Scottish champions.

The Hoops have signed two goalkeepers recently and are close to signing Paulo Bernardo on a permanent deal.

Paulo Bernardo set to sign five-year deal at Celtic

Sky Sports reported last week that Celtic have agreed an initial fee of £3.5 million with Benfica for the signing of Bernando

The Portuguese midfielder, who joined on loan last season at Celtic Park, is determined to join Celtic Park and play under Rodgers.

According to a report from Mais Football, Benfica has completed the transfer of Bernando and the deal with Celtic is “finally done”.

The 22-year-old midfielder will sign a five-year contract at Parkhead. Bernando has completed all the formalities and the signing will be announced in the next few days.

Bernardo made 33 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring four goals for the Bhoys. It was a successful loan spell for the central midfielder who won the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup winners medal before moving to Lisbon.

Celtic had the option to convert his loan deal into a permanent one by paying £6 million, and Benfica were initially sticking to that figure.

However, it appears they have decided to let him go for almost half the fee.

While he was not a regular starter at the club last season, he did enough to impress Rodgers to secure a permanent move.
