As to writer Fernando Serrano, Rangers have extended a fresh bid to Sevilla to take midfielder Joan Jordan on loan.
Although the La Liga team turned down a bid from the Scottish behemoths for the Spaniard because it didn’t include enough money to pay his salaries, the club isn’t stopping them from putting in another bid.
Furthermore, they have reportedly come back with a revised offer that raises the proportion of salary they are willing to pay, according to Serrano.
Rangers Wants to Sign New Midfield Players
Philippe Clement requires additional support.
At Ibrox, midfielders are sorely needed after the departures of Ryan Jack and John Lundstram due to contract expiration this season.
Although young player Connor Barron has already been brought in from Aberdeen, Philippe Clement is limited in alternatives as Nicolas Raskin will miss six weeks due to an ankle injury he sustained during the preseason.
However, Jordan would easily be the highest paid individual in Glasgow at Sevilla, where he presently makes about £58,000 a week; Rangers’ latest offer would cover about 40% of that amount.
Fabrizio Romano has previously stated that Sevilla does not want to pay him any wages in order to let him leave the team because they have no intention of using him in the near future.
After making six recruits this summer—Jefte, Clinton Nsiala, Oscar Cortes, Liam Kelly, and Hamza Igamane joining Barron—Rangers have now acknowledged that they must sell players in order to acquire money for fresh hires.
Rangers Close in on Vaclav Cerny Transfer
Winger in race against time to seal deal
While the club look to strengthen the midfield, they are also closing in on a deal to strengthen their attacking department further by bringing in Czechia international Vaclav Cerny on a season-long loan deal.
Clement is set to see striker Sam Lammers leave the club permanently to FC Twente, while there are also talks for Connor Goldson, James Tavernier and Todd Cantwell to move before the end of the window.
There are several transfers on the go and that has allowed for Clement to make his move and add more experience to the wide positions, with Scott Wright another who could move on.
That would leave the team with Cerny, Rabbi Matondo, Ross McCausland and Oscar Cortes as options for the upcoming season, while Tom Lawrence, Dujon Sterling and Kieran Dowell are also options should they be needed.
