Manchester United is searching for a new center back.
Not only does the Reds desperately need to replace Luke Shaw on the left side, but they also need to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right side, as he is slated to go after only one season on his deal.
West Ham has signed club and player agreements for Noussair Mazraoui; the potential trade is progressed but not finalized, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.
Mazraoui, who played for Erik ten Hag in the past, has been linked to a summer transfer to Old Trafford. Soon, we’ll find out whether United is serious about the Moroccan right-back or whether they’ll allow him to sign with West Ham without any hijacking attempts.
Ornstein states that United retain an interest in the 26-year-old but West Ham are currently leading the race for his signature.
However, West Ham advancing to sign Mazraoui may come as a double blow for United.
While Wan-Bissaka and the Hammers have been in talks, it appears that Mazraoui is the player they are most interested in signing. According to The Athletic, Mazraoui has rejected the London club in favor of a move to Inter Milan. In addition, West Ham would be virtually signing a target because we are powerless until Wan-Bissaka is sold, dealing a double blow to United.
Intermediaries are talking about a potential trade that would send Denzel Dumfries to United and send Wan-Bissaka to Inter, according to Ornstein.
Ever before Ten Hag took over as manager, there have been rumors of the Netherlands international right-back from Inter Milan moving to Old Trafford.
