Alan Myers reports that Everton will make their sixth signing of the transfer window—a defender.

On July 26, the news editor for Sky Sports appeared on X to address inquiries on the Toffees’ transfer activity.

This summer, Jack Harrison, Tim Iroegbunam, Iliman Ndiaye, and Jesper Lindstrom are the four players that have signed thus far.

Myers said, “Defender,” in response to the question of which position the team will sign next.

To permanently replace Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young, Everton needs a right-back.
The Toffees must prioritize acquiring a right-back in the near future because Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young, the team’s current fit choices, are both in their late 30s and approaching the conclusion of their careers.

This indicates that in order to maintain stability and continuity among the club, Everton desperately needs a long-term successor.

It’s critical that the team adds a player who is strong on defense in addition to being a decent forward.

Moreover, the Toffees’ recent signings have mainly focused on strengthening their midfield and attack.

While these signings are important, the club also needs to ensure that they have a strong and balanced defence.

The Merseyside team can fill this requirement and make sure they have a well-rounded team that is ready to compete at the highest level by bringing in a new right-back.
