Brighton’s futures are unknown for Joel Veltman and Tariq Lamptey, and if one of them departs, the Seagulls may try to sign Alexander Bah, a right-back for Benfica.
Veltman and Lamptey’s contracts with the Premier League team expire in2025, so now would be the best time to sell the defenders if they don’t sign new agreements at the Amex.
The full-backs’ futures are still up in the air for Brighton, but if the Seagulls sell the two stars, sources have told CaughtOffside that the English team may want Alexander Bah of Benfica.
The 26-year-old is a target for the Premier League team, who have already had discussions with the Portuguese team to discuss the specifics of a potential transfer.
Bah has an Estádio da Luz contract that expires in 2027, and Benfica is looking to pay €20 million for him.
Although the 26-year-old Danish player is valued by Brighton’s new coach Fabian Hürzeler, it is unclear if the Seagulls will pursue the Benfica player given that Veltman and Lamptey’s situations will also need to be taken into consideration.
Alexander Bah, the Brighton target, who is he?
After moving from Slavia Prague to Portugal in 2022, 26-year-old right-back Bah joined Benfica. Last season, the defender played in 32 games for the Portuguese powerhouses, contributing four assists and two goals of his own.
Bah had to cope with injury problems during the 2023–24 season, but it didn’t stop him from representing Denmark at Euro 2024. The Benfica player participated in all four of his country’s matches in Germany until the hosts ultimately eliminated them in the Round of 16.
Bah is a really dynamic full-back who excels at passing the ball, so if Brighton decides to sign him, he would be a perfect fit. Additionally, the Danish player possesses versatility, which is a valuable quality in the Premier League.
