Africa Foot sources claim that Rangers are in “advanced talks” to bring Hannibal Mejbri to Ibrox on a season-long loan.

The youthful player for Manchester United, who joined in January, is eager to feature on a regular basis in the first team after a terrible second half of the previous campaign that saw him play in just six games.

And following his impressive performance in the recent friendly match between Rangers and Manchester United in the build-up to the season, Philippe Clement is eager to start the midfielder in the Scottish Premiership for the 2024–2025 campaign.

Rangers have other offers on the table for Hannibal Midfielder and are in “Advanced Talks” with him.

In an effort to bolster the midfield this summer, Rangers has now made the 21-year-old their “priority” transfer target. Talks are reportedly progressing between the two parties and the player.

Though the Danish team FC Copenhagen has also made an offer to the Red Devils to recruit the former Birmingham City star on loan with the option to make the deal permanent next summer, the Scottish giants are not the only team interested in the player.

However, Hannibal—who was called “phenomenal” by former Birmingham manager John Eustace—is not keen on relocating to Denmark.

Recently, Rangers extended an offer to sign Joan Jordan, a top player for Sevilla, on a loan basis in an effort to bolster their midfield options and grab the Scottish Premiership championship away from fierce rivals Celtic.

Hannibal Could Replace Todd Cantwell

Midfielder has handed in a transfer request at Ibrox

Due to the expiration of their contracts, John Lundstram and Ryan Jack left Rangers, and Belgian star Nicolas Raskin is set to miss up to six weeks due to an ankle injury sustained during the preseason.

But the true surprise at Ibrox came when manager Clement said that playmaker Todd Cantwell wanted to pursue “a new adventure” after the playmaker filed a formal transfer request to quit the team barely eighteen months after he joined from Norwich.

The 26-year-old will train with the B team until a deal is reached to allow him to move on, according to Clement, who has since confirmed this. The money will likely be reinvested in the team to help attract future targets.

But Hannibal may prove to be the best choice to take Cantwell’s place because of his quality and versatility to play in midfield and in a somewhat more advanced role. Plus, signing Hannibal on loan would be an inexpensive transaction.
