According to Wayne Veysey of Football Insider, Newcastle United and Chelsea right winger Noni Madueke are getting very close to finalizing a deal.

Pending an agreement between the Magpies and the Blues, Veysey stated on July 26 that the player “has agreed personal terms with Newcastle,” calling the 22-year-old striker the “most likely of the club’s right-wing targets to join.”

Before the 2024–25 season, Eddie Howe of Newcastle and new sporting director Paul Mitchell are reportedly looking to add at least one right-winger to the squad. It’s unclear, though, if more reinforcements will be needed at the position depending on whether Miguel Almiron, the team’s starting goalkeeper, is sold during the summer transfer window.

As per Veysey’s story from July 19, Newcastle had previously contacted Chelsea regarding Madueke’s transfer earlier in the month. In addition, Veysey mentioned a few additional possible targets, such as Jarrod Bowen of West Ham and Crysencio Summerville of Leeds United.

Chelsea’s desire to turn a profit in London after spending a total of €88 million on five new players earlier in the summer may have encouraged the sale of Madueke by the Blues.

After transferring from PSV Eindhoven to Chelsea in January 2023, Madueke has made 46 appearances for the team. Though two of his goals came from penalty kicks, he has scored nine goals and provided thirteen assists.

Given that Chelsea spent over €34 million for the former PSV winger less than two years ago, it seems sense that the Blues would want a price north of that range from NUFC in order to turn a profit, as is reportedly the case.

However, it may be more practical (and wiser) to sign Madueke at that price rather than paying Bowen’s market value of €50 million or taking a chance on Summerville, who is worth €20 million.
