This summer, Burnley demanded too much of one of its players, forcing the team to recruit a star from Scottish powerhouse Rangers in its place.

Following their relegation from the Premier League, several Clarets players are being linked to moves away from Turf Moor this summer.

Sam Lammers from Rangers was recently acquired by FC Twente, a Dutch team, but they had their eye on one of Burnley’s players.

The Dutch team was interested in Wout Weghorst, but Burnley priced the striker out of the deal, according to Dutch journalist Tijmen van Wissing.

Van Wissing stated on the Dutch website Voetbal Primeur about Twente’s acquisition of Lammers: “A great purchase for Twente, who were looking for a striker to play alongside Ricky van Wolfswinkel.”

It’s no secret that Wout Weghorst was one of the possibilities for the long-term transfer.

“In the end, that didn’t happen because Burnley made too many demands.”

Weghorst had been anticipated to leave Turf Moor this summer, though it is unclear how much Burnley requested in order to let him go.

With less than a year remaining on his Clarets contract, Weghorst—who spent last season on loan at Hoffenheim in Germany—runs the risk of leaving the team on a free transfer.
