Lyon’s star As of right moment, Fabrizio Romano has booked Jake O’Brien’s Everton medical for Monday.
On July 28, the Italian journalist revealed via X that O’Brien’s contract duration had also been decided upon, with the agreement extending until June 2029.
In the event that he leaves Goodison Park, Lyon will be able to exercise its 10% sell-on clause. He will join for an estimated £16.9 million.
This season, Everton is serious business.
This season, Everton has been among the busiest teams in the Premier League. Both Jack Harrison and Iliman Ndiaye have already joined the team.
Ndiaye’s acquisition was greatly required because the Toffees’ attack suffered mightily the previous term.
And while their defense was undoubtedly one of the team’s stronger points on the field, there isn’t much quality on the field save for Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkwoski, who open the game.
On their days, both Michael Keane and Mason Holgate can perform well.
However, their form is inconsistent and with Keane now entering the latter stages of his career, it’s not a surprise to see O’Brien added to Sean Dyches’ ranks.
Ben Godfrey, who left Atalanta close to the beginning of the summer window, will be directly replaced by the Irishman.
It is currently unknown if O’Brien will be a regular member of the first team or if he would need to compete to get in ahead of players like Tarkowski and Branthwaite.
