According to sources that spoke to Football Insider, Leeds United has expressed interest in signing Jordan James, the phenomenon from Birmingham City.
James, 20, is being considered by the Yorkshire club as a possible successor for Glen Kamara, who left for Rennes in France for a fee of £8.4 million.
According to sources who spoke with Football Insider, Leeds is “very interested” in signing James, but there is competition from an unidentified Premier League team for his services.
Following their relegation to League One, Birmingham may be obliged to grudgingly sell their greatest asset after incurring significant summer investment.
Jordan, a wonderkid for Birmingham City, is wanted by Leeds United. Despite just being 20 years old, James James has already made 105 appearances and scored 10 goals for the team he grew up playing for.
Despite Birmingham’s eventual relegation from the Championship, he had his most productive season last year, with eight goals in 47 games across all competitions.
The young player, who made his debut with Leeds players Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon in their Euro 2024 qualifier against Croatia, is now officially a member of the Wales national team.
Birmingham, intent on returning to the English second division as soon as possible, has already invested £11.7 million in eight new players.
In sharp contrast, Leeds has lost sixteen first-team players to loan or permanent injury and has only signed Rodon and Jayden Bogle this transfer window.
This transfer window may potentially see more Elland Road departures, but the team does not intend to make it easy.
