Connor Goldson has finally completed his move from Rangers to Aris Limassol.
The centre-half, 31, has been rumoured to be closing in on an Ibrox exit for the past number of weeks as manager Philippe Clement continues with his squad overhaul ahead of the new season. Goldson was one player on a hefty wage packet with the club hopeful of shifting that off their salary bill.
Now the Cyprus giants have landed their man after he jetted out from Glasgow late last week after he was granted permission by the boss to make his way to his new club to conclude transfer proceedings.
A Rangers statement read: “Rangers can today confirm Connor Goldson has departed the club to join Cypriot side Aris Limassol for an undisclosed fee. Everyone at Rangers wishes him the very best of luck in his future endeavours.”
Aris Limassol said: “Aris Limassol announces the cooperation agreement with the English central defender Conor Lambert Goldson! The 1.91 tall defender signed a three-year contract and will be a resident of Limassol until the summer of 2027! We welcome Connor to our team and wish him every success in the green jersey!”a
Signed by Steven Gerrard from Brighton in 2018, Goldson became the fastest Rangers player to reach 300 appearances for the club. The vice-captain was a virtual ever present in the Ibrox backline and played a key role in Gers’ memorable run to the 2022 Europa League Final. He also helped the club to title glory in 2021, while also getting his hands on the Scottish Cup and League Cup.
