Son of former Newcastle United and England striker Andrew, the 29-year-old forward was released by League One earlier this summer and now arrives at The Hawthorns.
The Manchester City academy alum scored eighteen goals for the Tykes the previous campaign, and he is being linked to a summer transfer to a Championship team.
Just before Brandon Thomas-Asante, a striker, is scheduled to join Coventry City, he has now arrived at The Hawthorns.
Despite spending much of his career in League One, the forward is thrilled to have reached his objective of going back to the Championship.
“I’m really excited to be back in the Championship,” he declared. One of my objectives was to return as soon as possible to this division.
“I’m coming to Albion after having a successful season at Barnsley.” I intend to be a serious danger and will work extremely hard for the team.
“I know I can score goals when I get my chance, but I have to take it when I get it.”
Cole had loan stints at Barnsley and MK Dons prior to starting his career with Man City.
After that, he played for Bradford, Fleetwood, Wigan, and Motherwell before securing a contract with the Scottish team following a fruitful loan period.
The forward was lured back to Barnsley after scoring 12 goals beyond the border. In 129 games there, he scored 36 goals, but left this summer when the Tykes lost in the play-offs.
Carlos Corberan, the head coach of the Baggies, continued, “I would like to welcome Devante to the team. Devante is a quick striker who works hard and is full of energy.
“He joins the team and will give them more attacking competition after scoring goals in League One last season.”
