Davie Robertson has stated that in order to restore the Rangers team, Philippe Clement needs time and assistance.

After Michael Beale’s tenure, the Belgian brought fresh energy to Ibrox last October and won the League Cup at Hampden Park in his debut season in Scotland.

But after the Gers lost to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership final and to Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Cup final, Clement has come under heavy fire.

Robertson, a Rangers player from 1991 to 1997, is in favor of the manager staying at Ibrox.

In an interview with the Daily Record on Wednesday, July 31, he stated: “The Rangers have a tradition of stability in the manager’s office; in 152 years, there have only been 19 men.” Whatever the outcome, Clement must be allowed the time and resources to personally rebuild the team.

“Hopefully, he receives that. You have to have the most optimism possible at the beginning of the season because anything may happen. When he arrived, nobody anticipated that he would produce what he accomplished.

“Those three things—winning the League Cup, eliminating Betis, and putting the team back in the running for the championship—all demonstrated that he could do amazing things with little.”

Will Philippe Clement continue to manage Rangers?
The Gers appear to be embarking on a fresh adventure, as Clement and Nils Koppen put in endless hours to finish restructuring the present roster in time for the upcoming campaign.

It almost feels like the passing of the mantle at Ibrox with players like Ryan Jack, John Lundstram, and even Connor Goldson departing the club, so Clement needs to supervise his moves.

Fans shouldn’t lose hope if some of the early results don’t yield many points, even if the manager will be under pressure to start the season strong. The league season is not a sprint but a marathon.

Although the team’s preseason performance was obviously lacking—losses to Ajax, Manchester United, and Birmingham City were followed by a 4–4 draw against Union Berlin—nobody should take these results too seriously.

The true litmus test for the new team and Clement’s coaching abilities will come in the upcoming Champions League qualification stages.
