Leeds United are likely to miss out on acquiring Norwich City’s Gabriel Sara, according to the Sunday Mirror. The newspaper stated via their print version on 4 August (page 70) that the 25-year-old Brazilian is going out to Turkey to join Galatasaray in a deal worth approximately £20million.
The attacker was reportedly being pursued by Crystal Palace and Leeds, but Galatasaray, a Champions League team, is now close to reaching an agreement.
Leeds United was not going to get a £20 million agreement.
Leeds made at least £25 million when they sold Crysencio Summerville to West Ham [BBC Sport], but nearly all of that money was not going to be spent right away on signing a single player.
Furthermore, despite Leeds’ enormous reputation and legendary rivalry with Galatasaray, a Brazilian football player would probably prefer to play in the Champions League over the Championship.
Sara is such a talented player, so it’s unfortunate for the Whites, but it’s also not surprising that he’s leaving this summer.
Leeds needs to work hard to find someone to take Summerville’s place.
Victor Orta brought him in at a young age, and Marcelo Bielsa and Daniel Farke developed him into a very talented first-team attacker.
We don’t anticipate to sign someone who will cost more than £10 million since the Whites are keeping an eye on PSR. You can’t accomplish something like that overnight, so someone who is ready to start in the starting lineup must enter the game.
