Leeds United’s attempts to replace Crysencio Summerville look to be taking them to Jon Rowe of Norwich City for now, and it’s a deal the club could pursue very quickly.
Leeds look to be well-placed for the start of the Championship season this weekend, but have been handed a fresh transfer priority to sort out after losing Crysencio Summerville.
Whether Leeds look to replace the winger like-for-like or sign someone to in a different direction, what is obvious is the club’s need to replace the star quality of last term’s Championship Player of the season, plus his 29 goal involvements.
The man Leeds have turned to right away this week is Norwich City’s 21-year-old winger Jon Rowe, according to the Telegraph.
A £7million offer is said to be imminently sent to the Canaries for their star wide man, while it’s also not believed to be nearly close to the valuation Norwich hold for Rowe.
Rowe netted 12 times and assisted a further two in the league last season as the Canaries finished sixth in the Championship.
Fabrizio Romano delivers Jon Rowe to Leeds update
Fabrizio Romano has now delivered the latest on Leeds’ attempts to land the talented winger, speaking to Give Me Sport about the ongoing talks.
He said:
“Yeah, he’s a possibility. It’s true that his name is one of the ones they are considering internally. At the moment, I’m told that still nothing is close to being done, but it’s a concrete possibility. For sure, they will replace Summerville.
“They are assessing all the options, but I think Leeds will be quite fast on this one, also because they made good money with Summerville and also with Archie Gray, so they have some money to invest, and they will surely do that.”
It would be a massive statement of intent for the Championship promotion race if Leeds could poach one of their rivals’ best players and talents.
Rowe is one of the best in the league in his position and is only going to get better after a breakout campaign last term.
However, all of these factors point towards Norwich wanting to play hard-ball with any talks to sell him to us.
Leeds need to replace Summerville’s goals as soon as possible, and Rowe would be a great way to do it, albeit a difficult avenue to explore.
