After Jesurun Rak-Sakyi agreed to join Sheffield United on loan, Leeds United have also agreed terms to sign the 21-year-old winger. Although The Blades are front-runners in the race, reports say the player is yet to decide on his future.
The Whites are very much interested in the winger following the exit of Crysencio Summerville to West Ham United. The Dutch winger was the best player in the league last season winning the Championship Player of the Season after an impeccable campaign.
United failed to secure direct promotion last season. Finishing third in the Championship, the club played in the promotion playoffs hoping to get back into the Premier League.
Unfortunately, they lost to Southampton 0-1 in the finals. This failure to win promotion led to a lot of players leaving either on loan or permanently.
One of these players was Crysencio Summerville. He contributed to a total of 31 goals last season scoring 21 and assisting 10. Daniel Farke will want to replace the Dutchman with someone who could replicate his performances in a shot at promotion this season.
Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe is one of the replacements on Leeds’ radar. A £7 million offer had been made by The Whites but it was rejected as The Canaries felt that the offer was too low.
Leeds United agree terms to sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on loan
Three clubs have agreed terms to sign Jesurun on loan this summer. The front-runners being Sheffield United followed by Leeds United and then Hull City.
According to Sky Sports, both The Whites and Hull have also agreed to the terms. The deal includes a seven-figure loan fee, full salary coverage and a recall clause in January.
The West Yorkshire outfit has moved fast this time agreeing to terms if the Jonathan Rowe deal falls apart. Sheffield United still stay front runners in the deal but Rak-Sakyi is yet to make a decision.
Reports also claim that the English winger might make a decision today as he’d like to play the first match of the season. Less than 24 hours remain for Leeds’ opener against Portsmouth.
If Rak-Sakyi decides to spend his season at Elland Road, it is going to be a busy 24 hours for The Whites. They’ll have to register the player well before the match if they want to have him on the team sheets.
It will be interesting to see if Rak-Sakyi will be in the Starting XI against Portsmouth if he ever takes that route.
