Rangers aren’t exactly starting over, but if the season isn’t going to be a bust, the summer hiring process must get underway.
Todd Cantwell and Ianis Hagi, two of the club’s top playmakers, aren’t doing anything, while some players who were long since judged unworthy are still hanging about Auchenhowie.
The Ibrox debacle has made Philippe Clement’s job more difficult, but he is limited to what he can do on a daily basis other than show up at the training facility and attempt to improve the Rangers players’ availability.
With ties to the Rangers, Relebohlie Mofokeng is aiming high.
In addition, the management hopes that Nils Koppen can bring in fresh talent. Relebohile Mofokeng, a target for the Light Blues, has finally talked about his future after weeks of rumors.
Speaking with GQ, the young international from South Africa said he has bigger goals in mind than winning trophies with the Orlando Pirates and returning home:
“I’m appreciative of all the opportunities I’ve had. Being able to represent my nation and add to the team’s success is an honor. However, this is only the start. My goal is to push myself even harder and accomplish even more.
Although Vaclav Cerny has been a much-needed and welcomed addition to the Rangers team, it still seems odd that there aren’t any more wingers being paraded at Auchenhowie.
It was announced that Yusuf Kabadayi was on his way to Glasgow and that he would soon leave Bayern Munich; however, he decided to remain in the Bundesliga and nothing has been heard from him since.
Given that Kabadayi and Cerny have completely different profiles, it appears that Koppen was looking for a wide player who could fit his transfer policy requirements.
Mofokeng would benefit the Rangers right away.
Mofokeng, 19, is a young professional who already meets many of the requirements the recruitment director has been seeking.
He can play on either flank, has quick feet, and has proven that he can perform well in senior football and on a large platform.
a cool-headed conclusion in the Pirates’ cup final, demonstrating his ability to handle pressure and expectation.
Mofokeng, who recently made his breakthrough in the international setup, is sure to draw interest from additional teams, even if year two is expected to be more challenging for him because of the increased attention opposing defenders will give him.
As a Rangers supporter, there are many things to be angry about right now, and it appears that negotiations over both new players and exits from the team are at a standstill.
They would definitely get some excitement from a player like Mofokeng.
