Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner finally spoke out about his new coach Craig Berube, and he had nothing but good things to say and looks forward to the season.

Craig Berube was hired a little before the 2024 NHL Entry Draft in Las Vegas, and it was at that moment that he spoke to the media about how excited he was to be able to coach such a historical franchise like the Maple Leafs, but he also had nothing but praise for Mitch Marner, also saying that he would not be traded.

Mitch Marner was asked questions about his contract expiring at the end of next season at the Auston Matthews’ captaincy ceremony, but Marner refused to get into any details. He did however speak very highly of the new Leafs bench boss, offering up a bunch of compliments

“Craig has been awesome… It’s been great talking to him all summer. We’re excited for this year, we’re excited to get it going. He’s been a joyful new mind and we’re excited to play under him. Talking with Craig throughout the summer, he’s been amazing. He’s bringing a great new mindset to the team. I talked to a lot of people that have been under his coaching and I’ve only heard great things. We’re very excited to have him.”

The focus is about to turn to training camps very shortly as players will start reporting in roughly four weeks. The relationship between Mitch Marner and Craig Berube appears to be very positive, and that can only mean good things for Marner, who will look to improve on his stats from last year.
During the 2023-24 season, Mitch Marner played in 69 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs and scored 26 goals and 85 points. The playoffs were a different story, where he only scored one goal and two assists in seven games.
