After leaving Leeds United, Liam Cooper has consented to resign for Hull City, sources have told Football Insider.

During Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Millwall at the MKM Stadium, the 32-year-old was seated in owner Ali Acun Ilicali’s box.

Cooper’s contract at Elland Road expired at the end of June, therefore he left Leeds.

After taking over for Liam Rosenior in the Hull dugout, Tim Walter is shopping for a new center-back to strengthen his defensive options.

Liam Cooper will head to Hull City following his departure from Leeds United.

Cooper came through the ranks of the Yorkshire squad to begin his career with Hull, and in 2008 he was elevated to the first team.

Despite making only 17 professional games at the MKM Stadium, he felt that his possibilities for his boyhood club were limited.

The Scotland international moved to Chesterfield in 2013, but after an outstanding stint in Derbyshire, Leeds signed him a year later.

During his ten-year tenure at Elland Road, the Hull-born defender made 284 games and captained the team for multiple seasons.

Before Leeds was demoted in 2023, Cooper was a key member of the team that achieved promotion to the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa.

After Daniel Farke joined the team last season, the center back’s playing time was significantly cut, as he only made 19 appearances overall.

Cooper, whose contract with Leeds expired in June, has now decided to rejoin Hull over ten years after departing the team.

Walter’s team has struggled to win games this season; they have drew their last three Championship encounters and lost to Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup first round.
