Leeds United are favourites to sign Bournemouth defender Max Aarons with the Cherries ready to sanction the sale of the player, according to Leeds Live.
The defender worked under Daniel Farke at Norwich City and the German remains a big fan of his, and could add him to the squad according to Stuart Jamieson’s report on Tuesday [27 August].
The Whites signed Jayden Bogle last month but still need new faces at Elland Road, and could turn to Aarons with Bournemouth prepared to sell [Ian Abrahams, 26 August].
Leeds United in for Max Aarons
A deal between Leeds United and Bournemouth for Aarons would make sense for all parties.
Despite splashing out around £5m on Bogle, Farke does not have any right-back cover beyond him and Aarons is a tried and tested player under his stewardship.
The signing of Julian Araujo at Bournemouth means Aarons is now further down Andoni Iraola’s pecking order, with long-serving Adam Smith also still at the club.
The Mirror reported [27 August] that Leeds were primarily chasing two more targets after completion of the Manor Solomon loan deal from Tottenham.
These are anticipated to be Aarons from the Cherries, and Burnley winger Manuel Benson.
Despite having needed to recoup funds for PSR purposes, Leeds still have a disposable income thanks to their high-profile departures of the window exceeding £110m, and their lucrative Red Bull partnership.
