Carlos Soler’s move to West Ham has been dragged considerably by Nayef Aguerd’s reluctance of a move away, according to The Guardian.
On August 26, Jacob Steinberg wrote on the newspaper’s website that delayed departures from the London Stadium have delayed the scheduled arrival of the Spanish international from Paris Saint-Germain.
Aguerd turned down a loan-to-buy deal to the Bundesliga; on August 26, Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato revealed that the spurned team was Wolfsburg.
Before the window closes, Soler is apparently a “key priority” for Julen Lopetegui; but, following significant summer spending, the present objective is generating money before anyone else can.
Nayef Aguerd declines to go from West Ham to Wolfsburg
It seems that Soler’s real agreement at PSG is now completed, and he can join as soon as a space is available [The Times, August 26].
Kurt Zouma is about to join the Saudi Pro League, and Aguerd has a lot of other interests, so that seems likely to still happen [Dharmesh Sheth, 6 August].
The 28-year-old is rumored to have had alternative offers already [Daily Mail, August 27], thus it appears that another move away is planned before the deadline.
If Soler, 27, is expected to be brought in on a loan-
to-buy arrangement without requiring a sizable upfront payment, he might be able to replace the two highly compensated defenders who go on to play elsewhere.Due to his own significant contract violations, Danny Ings is also expected to leave [talkSPORT, August 13].
The majority of the David Moyes team that Lopetegui took over is available for a reasonable price, and it appears that the Hammers are close to signing Tammy Abraham from Roma [Corriere dello Sport, August 26]. As a result, some players will probably need to be moved in order to make room for Soler and the former Chelsea striker.
In other West Ham news, the Irons may let go of two midfielders in order to sign an England international who won the Champions League.
