Talks broke down, and Nottingham Forest was unable to sign Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal. However, the Reds quickly moved on to a player that Wolves wish to purchase.

In order to compete with Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi, Nuno Espirito Santo is looking for more offensive punch. However, a deal for Nketiah fell through when Nottingham Forest was unable to reach a personal agreement with the England international.

But now, Wolves are also admiring another forward, and Nottingham Forest has made a bid of £15 million to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford. The 27-year-old has had a great start to the 2024–25 season, netting one goal and setting up another in his two Premier League appearances thus far. This comes after Mike McGrath of the Telegraph reported that Wolves were in talks to sign Wissa, following Pedro Neto’s £54 million move to Chelsea.

The fact that nothing has happened there suggests that the talks between Wolves and Brentford did not go well. However, Nottingham Forest has now entered the fray with a sizable proposal.

The £8.5 million Brentford paid to buy Wissa from Lorient back in August 2021 would have been significantly profited from, should they accept. How Brentford has replied Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports offered more updates while we were putting together the original article.

The DR Congo international is in his final 24 months of a contract, and while the Bees are reportedly keen to keep him, Premier League rivals see an opportunity. He claims that Nottingham Forest made an offer of £15 million, instead of the £25 million that first surfaced on social media, and that Brentford has rejected the offer.

Thomas adds that Wolves are still monitoring Wissa, so perhaps those discussions with Brentford did not go as badly as first seemed.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Wissa could soon be joining either Nottingham Forest or Wolves before Friday’s transfer deadline.
