A £15 million midfield player and Leeds United are apparently in agreement on personal matters ahead of a possible spectacular late transfer to Elland Road.

Leeds’s current summer hires

Daniel Farke’s team has had a number of notable players go, including Archie Gray, Glen Kamara, Crysencio Summerville, and Georginio Rutter, who cost the Whites more than £100 million. Regarding arrivals, Yorkshire welcomed Joe Rodon, Joe Rothwell, Alex Cairns, and Jayden Bogle just in time for the start of the 2017 Championship season.

The next newcomer, winger Largie Ramazani, arrived last week, but Leeds fans had to wait a long time for him. Another winger from Manor Solomon, who is going to Elland Road on a season-long loan, will now be joining the Belgian. Though it’s unlikely that Solomon will be the last addition to the window, the deadline for Friday night is drawing near.

According to Graham Smyth of The Yorkshire Evening Post, Farke is also looking to add a midfielder and a full-back to the Elland Road roster. Gus Hamer of Sheffield United is one player who might be added to his midfield options.

The Star has reported in recent days that Leeds had placed a £13 million deal for the Blades star; however, Wilder appears to have rejected the offer.

A few bids have been made for players; one was really near, while the other was completely out of the question. I’ll be informed if and when the board makes decisions about players, so we need to prepare and have a strategy. It’s a little like me trying to predict the future and see who might show up.

With Leeds and Hamer, there has been a development recently.

Leeds and Hamer agree on personal terms.
Sport Witness has reported that Hamer has reportedly arrived in the Netherlands.

In order to have any chance of signing Hamer, Leeds will probably need to dramatically increase their opening bid, considering the Blades paid Coventry City £15 million for the midfielder last season when they were in the Premier League.

According to the SW report, Sheffield United is open to approving a transfer as long as Leeds offers a “substantial amount” and all parties are optimistic that the transaction will close before the transfer window closes.

It remains to be seen how true these statements from the Netherlands are, but given Hamer’s versatility as an attacking, central, or holding midfielder and his previous experience with Coventry, where he scored 43 goals in 132 games, signing him could be a wise move.

Leeds’ only senior center midfield alternatives are Ilia Gruev, Rothwell, and Ethan Ampadu, demonstrating how much they may gain by bringing in a player like Hamer.
