CBS Philadelphia, PA On Thursday, those who knew and loved Frankie Beverly celebrated his life with a night of dancing. They claim that having a celebration to memorialize him is exactly how he would want to be remembered.

Even though everyone expressed their sadness for Beverly, they also emphasized that his music will never die.

“His music will always remain in our hearts, even though we lost a legend,” West Philadelphia resident Yvonne Gray-Winkfield said.

The gathering took place in the Somerville neighborhood of the city on Frankie Beverly Way.

They danced to his song “Before I Let Go,” shared stories, and let balloons fly in his honor.

“Frankie Beverly really has been not only a part of Philadelphia but really the soundtrack to our lives, so losing him, it hurts, but he has given us so much to be joyful about,” Cindy Bass stated.

People we spoke with, like Beverly of the band Maze, said that his songs added soul and happiness to any situation. They express their intention to miss him.

Generations of people heard his classic songs. Everybody who heard his music was inspired by him, and he never failed to make the dance floor grin.

“He demonstrated to many of us that there is hope. Robert Holman stated, “He demonstrated to us that we can succeed in anything we set our minds to.”

Glenn Garrett observed, “If he wasn’t talking, he was singing.” “We will miss him and love him for the happy-go-lucky guy he was. He deserves this celebration.” God bless him.
