Leeds United will provide Daniel Farke with finances to acquire a new striker in January, amid interest in Sunderland’s Eliezer Mayenda, according to Football Insider.
On the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed that a move for Mayenda, 19, is improbable, with Sunderland unwilling to boost a possible promotion rival.
Following a disappointing start to life in the Championship, Daniel Farke’s team has won two successive 2-0 games against fellow Yorkshire clubs Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City.
Sunderland are currently at the top of the Championship table, having won all four of their opening games while surrendering only one goal.
Leeds United will support Daniel Farke in January, while Eliezer Mayenda has been linked with Sunderland after a failed loan spell at Hibernian.
Fortunately for everyone involved, Mayenda has proven to be a success, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in four Championship games.
Leeds United are desperate for a new striker after losing 19 first-team players during the summer transfer window, but they have received an injury boost ahead of their match against Burnley.
