On Saturday, Nottingham Forest defeated Liverpool with a remarkable victory thanks to the combined efforts of Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

With the help of the Sweden international and the England international, the Garibaldi defeated Liverpool 1-0, their first victory at Anfield since 1969.

Following the match, Anthony Elanga spoke with Callum Hudson-Odoi what they discussed on the bench prior to his arrival, which helped Nottingham Forest win the match.

Remarkably, the No. 21 for Nottingham Forest claimed to have drawn comparisons between the team’s 1-0 victory against Liverpool on Saturday and Steve Cooper’s team’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge the previous season.

“Since the beginning of pre-season, the atmosphere has been good,” Elanga stated to BBC Radio 5 Live. The new players were in early. Few teams can play as well as we did against Liverpool when we came here, and in the end, we were rewarded for our efforts.

“This game brought back memories of our Chelsea 0-1 Nottingham Forest match; today’s victory is particularly memorable.” Callum (Hudson-Odoi) and I discussed it on the bench and agreed that when we entered the game, we would have an impact. Although we have had a strong start to the season, we still have 35 games remaining; we must play each one carefully. We performed admirably against the major teams last season; the only difference was that they were clinical. We had a clinical day today.

The Reds were undoubtedly clinical; according to SofaScore, they created just two significant opportunities at Anfield, but they were still able to put one of those chances into Alisson Becker’s goal.

An incredible attitude from the two Nottingham Forest players, Elga and Hudson-Odoi. Both players had started every Premier League game this season, so it’s understandable that they could have felt betrayed by Nuno Espirito Santo for leaving them on the bench at Anfield.

But instead of focusing on how they could contribute as stand-ins, the Swede told BBC Radio 5 Live, they executed it perfectly once they were put on the field.

It’s evident that Nuno has cultivated a positive team environment, and perhaps Nottingham Forest’s unbeaten start to the 2024–25 season lasts for many more weeks.
