Jameson Williams, a wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, got some excellent news before facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2. Williams had suffered an injury in Week 1. Despite having an ankle injury in Week 1, the 23-year-old will play, said NFL Insider Jordan Schultz.
In Week 1, Williams had his best performance ever, snagging five receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown.
Williams’ career has had a turbulent start as he recovered from an ACL rupture and a gambling suspension at the start of the previous campaign.
Dan Campbell, the head coach, complimented Williams’ career-best performance in a controlled manner.
Campbell stated, via ESPN.com’s Eric Woodyard, “He showed up.” Being able to snag some of these and make it through the game was quite an accomplishment. The nicest thing about it was that he didn’t even use his finest ball. Even while there is still a lot of work to be done, it also demonstrates the effort he has made, how much he is growing as a player, and how much he wants to develop. And he simply doesn’t stop doing these actions.
In Week 2, Williams and the Lions might face off. The Lions and Bucs will reprise their divisional playoff victory from the previous season. Detroit prevailed, 31–23.
Amon-Ra St Brown, a versatile possession receiver akin to Hines Ward, is a gift for the Lions. Jahmyr Gibbs is a gifted three-down back that can play both receiver and runner. Between the tackles, David Montgomery can be quite dangerous. Sam LaPorta, a big-bodied red zone menace who excels across the middle, is another player they have.
Jameson Williams has the ability to overwhelm defenses for the Lions. Williams is endowed with extraordinary speed, and his deep speed may open up large areas of the field for the other players to exploit as playmakers.
Even if it’s just to themselves, the Lions still have a lot to prove after a dismal first week for St Brown and LaPorta.
