Over the years, Celtic has lost a number of young players that don’t measure up at their new teams.

For whatever reason, as young players leave Celtic in quest of first-team football, it hasn’t quite worked out.

Some players, like Josh Adam and Vincent Angelini, left Celtic to pursue careers in the south.

Adam, who was let go by Manchester City, is currently at Wrexham, and young Angelini is currently working in Saudi Arabia after his moves to Watford and Brentford failed.

But young Ewan Otto, who left Celtic in 2023 to play regular football, is making an impression now that he has switched positions and scored his team’s fourth goal this past weekend.

Otoo is thriving as a midfielder since leaving Celtic.
After aiding Dunfermline in winning League One and gaining promotion to the Championship, young Otoo left Celtic as a central defender in the summer of last year.

But during his loan stint with the team in May of last year, Otto—who was used as a midfielder—scored his first goal for The Pars.

Otoo, who has now been a regular member of the first team, continued to grow in his new position over the weekend by scoring another goal.

When Otoo first moved to Dunfermline, he was mostly employed as a center defender. However, in the last 21 games, the former Celtic youth player has been utilized in central midfield, where he appears to be thriving.

He has played as a defensive midfielder for the club for 15 games so far, six as a central midfielder, four as a left-sided midfielder, and even as an offensive midfielder at times. [Transfermarkt]

Otoo wants to get Dunfermline’s season going.
Otoo, who is happy to have scored his fourth goal for Dunfermline, is hoping that the victory over Raith will aid in their promotion campaign.

Otoo stated on Dunfermline’s official website, “We have been discussing it nonstop this week.” We were rather excited to use our strong performances from last week against East Fife and two weeks ago against Ayr to this match.

“We are grateful for the outcome, and we need to keep improving on it. Psychologically speaking, it matters; the way the table appears does matter. We can now see a better picture of it, so maybe we can continue forward and see where it leads.

Otoo, who has scored in Dunfermline’s previous two games, has assisted his team in winning their first match of the year as they aim to make their first trip back to Scotland’s top division since 2012.

Young Otoo, who is only 22 years old, appears to have a bright future ahead of him. It will be intriguing to watch if he plays Celtic in the near future.
