Michail Antonio, a former Sheffield Wednesday player, may go from West Ham United prior to the expiration of his current contract.
By the time the 34-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, he will have spent ten years with the Hammers.
Although he is currently pictured with the first team, questions about his future have persisted. In 2023, he was linked to Leeds United and Celtic, and in the summer, West Ham is said to have rejected a deal from Gremio.
Football Insider claims that Antonio might possibly leave before his contract expires. The Hammers’ first priority is reportedly to sign a new forward, and the exits of Danny Ings and Antonio would free up salary cap money.
Antonio was signed by Nottingham Forest from Wednesday a year prior, and West Ham acquired him from them in 2015. During his tenure in South Yorkshire, he made 84 appearances for the Owls, tallying 17 goals and 19 assists.
The forward was included in the sole England squad chosen by Sam Allardyce and was also called up by Gareth Southgate, but he ultimately decided to play for Jamaica internationally.
