Due to an eye problem, Alexander Isak had to leave the game at halftime on Sunday with Newcastle losing 1-0 at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Even though The Magpies were able to win 2-1 at Molineux, head coach Eddie Howe acknowledged following the game that there were issues with Isak.
Howe remarked, “I’m not entirely sure what the problem was—it was more his eye—but we knew he had to come off.” “I sincerely hope not, as he is a crucial member of our team.”
While Callum Wilson is still healing from a back ailment he sustained during the preseason, Newcastle will be hopeful that Isak is well enough to play against Fulham this coming weekend. After missing the entire preseason and the first five games of the current campaign, the 32-year-old is unlikely to be available for the trip to Fulham this coming weekend.
“Callum is a little behind where we wanted him to be, but he hasn’t had a setback.” Howe stated last week. “We thought he could be training right now in order to get ready for the games, but he hasn’t arrived yet. It is likely that he is lagging slightly from our desired state.
