With one door closing and another opening, the Kansas City Chiefs running back room now have a chance to demonstrate their abilities without Isiah Pacheco. It is up to the other backs on the roster to help fill in for Pacheco, since the team’s top back will be sidelined for some time due to surgery to repair a fractured fibula. And for offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, it’s time for others behind him to step up and take responsibility, even though the room will look a bit different without Isiah in the backfield.

Regarding the running back room, Nagy remarked, “That’s expected. It’s definitely a bit different.” “Injuries are a part of our game, and Pops [Pacheco] is recuperating nicely. However, in terms of football and Xs and Os, I believe the guys we now have here have truly been able to experience this offense, gain some valuable reps throughout training camp or the preseason, and now it’s all about the next man up mindset.” Replacing Pacheco’s productivity appears as a tough ask. Isiah has attempted 34 rushes in two games, with rookie Carson Steele coming in second with nine.

However, Steele, Samaje Perine, and now Kareem Hunt will have to fill in the gaps and provide Patrick Mahomes with a respectable run game.Nevertheless, with Pacheco ranking as the team’s third-best receiver with 54 yards, all three players will need to contribute to the passing game. This gives the Chiefs’ attack another dimension to work with. Inside the facility, though, it seems like Kansas City is happy with its running back options. The team will face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night for its first real test.
