Going into the 2024-25 season, the Boston Celtics are one of the NBA’s greatest teams. Boston has been pounding on the door for several seasons before finally getting it done last year.

The Celtics won the NBA championship in emphatic fashion over the Dallas Mavericks, and Boston might be a juggernaut for years to come. The Celtics’ key players, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, and Kristaps Porzingis, are expected to stay for several years, and Boston has great role players surrounding them. Payton Pritchard, Sam Hauser, and Xavier Tillman Sr. are players who blend well with Boston’s top guys, and one shouldn’t underestimate how bench contributions factor into the equation for the

Scheierman was selected 30th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft by Boston. His selection was unlikely to draw much attention, but with his offensive skill set, especially in this circumstance with Boston, he could be an underestimated talent.

To be fair, Scheierman is unlikely to contribute significantly this season.

Boston has a glut of wings who will get their chance, and Scheierman is a late-first-round pick. He could struggle to find significant minutes.

That being said, Scheierman’s skill set suggests he may be a crucial depth piece for Boston. He is an older talent at a soon-to-be 24, but for a club like the Celtics, he may blend incredibly well, and even sooner rather than later.

While the Celtics have plenty of shooters, he has the potential to be a knockdown danger in the future.

Scheierman’s stroke improved during his college career, and with his deep range, touch, release point, and off-ball feel, the lefty may fit well into Boston’s offensive framework and off of their top creators.

Scheierman’s shooting skills improved as he received more experience in college, and with Boston’s offensive movement, he might be another impactful shooter for the Celtics. He’s not a player opponents will probably be able to leave unguarded.

From there, in addition to the ways he could contribute offensively, Scheierman was able to collect a lot of boards during his college career, while not having nearly the same rebounding splits. He averaged 7.1 rebounds at North Dakota State and 8.6 rebounds per game in his final season at Creighton.

Scheierman’s abilities as an opportunistic off-ball mover, instinctive rebounder, and intelligent ball-mover might make him even another weapon for an already strong Celtics club. Time will tell what kind of opportunities he’ll have, but don’t underestimate what he could do for Boston in the coming years.
