The Premier League has revealed that Fabian Hurzeler of Brighton and Nuno Espirito Santo of Nottingham Forest were dismissed for “unacceptable” behavior during their teams’ draw on the south coast.
At the Amex Stadium, the points were shared after a fierce match. Jack Hinshelwood and Danny Welbeck scored goals for Brighton, while Chris Wood and Ramon Sosa scored for the visiting Forest team.
But in the last moments, the match seemed on the verge of collapse. After a foul on Joao Pedro, Forest’s playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White received a second yellow card, and both managers received red cards for their responses.
The Premier League Match Center social media account said, “The referee issued a second yellow card to Gibbs-White for a reckless challenge on Pedro.” “Fabian Hürzeler and Nuno Espírito Santo were both sent off for their unacceptable technical area behaviour following the incident.”
Both teams were unbeaten coming into the match, and a win would have placed them in the top four. Wood’s penalty kick gave Forest the lead early on, but Brighton led at halftime thanks to headers from Hinshelwood and a Welbeck free kick.
The two substitutes made by Forest manager Nuno after the break resulted in an equalizer. Sosa scored his first goal in his second Premier League game after Jota Silva broke through the Brighton defense and sent the ball across.
Even though they were reduced to 10 players, the visitors had a late chance to win. But even after breaking through in the closing seconds, Sosa was unable to locate Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The Forest scorer Wood said to Sky Sports, “I would have to see the challenge back, I have not seen it.” “That’s one of them; Morgan made a snap choice, and we need to let that go.
“That is what they do; the management will have to come and comment on that. In the Premier League, when points are few, everyone wants to win and compete.”
Joao Pedro, according to Brighton coach Andrew Crofts, “took a nasty hit”. After being on the field for little over ten minutes after being fouled by Gibbs-White, the Brazilian was observed cautiously going towards the end of the match.
“The tackle on Joao looked like it wasn’t a great tackle,” Crofts stated. “We took offense at it. The response is to watch the referee’s actions. Because I was interacting with a player, I was blind to it. The managers’ red cards were what I saw the next.”
