Morgan Moses, an 11-year veteran right tackle, sprained his MCL and had a bone bruise during the New York Jets’ Week 3 victory over the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football. As a result, the starting right tackle will be out of the lineup for a few weeks.

Moses left the game on Thursday night in the second half due to a twisted up leg during an Aaron Rodgers sack. Moses’s first injury appeared severe as he sprawled around in agony on the field, but all indications suggest the veteran will just miss a few games.

Moses’ injury is anticipated to keep him out of action for two to four weeks, according to a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network on Saturday. Moses has a decent chance of avoiding the injured reserve completely.

For the Jets, this is the best-case scenario considering how bad the injury looked at first. Olu Fashanu, a rookie selected in the first round, will take over and start at right tackle until Moses is back.

Jermaine Johnson has surgery

When it was discovered that star edge rusher Jermaine Johnson had suffered a torn Achilles during the team’s Week 2 victory over the Tennessee Titans, the Jets’ defense took a significant hit.

Due to his Achilles injury, Johnson is anticipated to miss the rest of the season; however, he has subsequently made hints about a potential postseason comeback. It’s possible he’s simply playing with the fans, but it’s hard to tell for sure given what Aaron Rodgers almost did last season.

But what is certain is that Johnson’s procedure was a total success. The third-year professional updated followers on social media late on Friday night, saying that his surgery had gone well. For one of the most exciting young players on the Jets, the path to rehabilitation begins right now.

In its first game without him since Week 3, the Jets defense showed improvement, recording a season-high seven sacks. Hopefully, Will McDonald and team can continue to fill in for Johnson when he’s not around.

Jets make NFL history in Week 3

The Jets trounced and humiliated the Patriots, their fierce rivals, in their Week 3 primetime victory of 24-3. In the process, they also created a little bit of history.

OptaStats reports that the Jets finished the game with 400+ yards of offense, over 40 minutes of possession, zero turnovers, zero touchdowns allowed, and seven or more sacks, making them the first team in the Super Bowl era to achieve it.

That’s as comprehensive a beating as you’ll find in the National Football League. Even while the final stat line only shows a 21-point win, the game really resulted in a historically significant thrashing that has never before been matched in NFL history.

In Week 4, the Jets will host the Denver Broncos in an attempt to build on that victory. They have more than a week to enjoy this historic win for the time being.
