Charles Harris, an experienced pass-rusher, was signed by the Panthers on Wednesday, giving the outside linebacker group some more experience.
The last three seasons, the 29-year-old was a member of the Lions.
He was once selected by the Dolphins in the first round and has 16.5 sacks over seven seasons.
2021 was his greatest year with Detroit, accumulating 7.5 sacks.
In place of Jadeveon Clowney, the Panthers are experimenting with a lot of younger players; DJ Johnson and Eku Leota shared playing time last week.
They added tight end Feleipe Franks, who was waived on Monday, back to the practice squad on Wednesday as well. He participated in the first game on Sunday and made a special teams punt recovery.
