Travis Kelce should make room for Taylor Swift’s future adventures.
The Grammy winner’s partner received advise from Ryan Murphy, who directed the Kansas City Chiefs tight end in his upcoming series “Grotesquerie,” when he agreed to participate in the FX series.
Murphy exclusively told E! News at the “Grotesquerie” premiere in New York on September 23, “The only thing that [Travis and I] talked about was that she’s very supportive of him, and if he has an interest, she wanted him to try it,” “I was thrilled about that.”
Murphy remarked, “I love her, too,” after hearing nothing but “sweet, lovely things” about Swift.
And when it came to working with the football player, the “American Horror Story” creator admitted Kelce didn’t require any tips. Murphy stated, “A star is a star is a star—and he’s a star.” Murphy was the drama’s creator and producer.
“He’s so charismatic, and he’s so smart, he’s lovely,” he said. “He was limited in time. He requested me to work up something for him. I did. It was a privilege.”
Murphy was similarly pleased by Kelce’s work ethic, even though the actor—who co-stars with Niecy Nash in the first episode of “Grotesquerie”—was a natural on screen.
“He was familiar with everyone’s lines,” Murphy said. “He is everything you could hope for, and he exhibited excellent discipline. He leads by example, arriving on set early and leaving late, and assembling a fantastic team. (To hear more from Murphy, watch E! News at 11 p.m. tonight, Sept. 23.)
Actually, Kelce was able to overcome his apprehension about appearing weak in front of the camera.
“He went into that knowing it was going to be a little scary, and it was for him,” Murphy said. And he memorized the entire script in ten minutes after I altered a scene that I didn’t like. It was letter perfect. He’s really intelligent and has a significant asset.
What does Murphy believe the NFL star’s prospects in Hollywood are? The 58-year-old thinks that everything is conceivable.
“If Travis Kelce wants to be a big movie star, he could do it,” Murphy stated. “His acting skills are evident in the show. Additionally, he is gifted.”
“The world is his oyster,” he continued. He is incredibly capable.”
On September 25 at 10 p.m., “Grotesquerie” will debut with two episodes on FX. The next day, Hulu will provide the series for streaming.
