Newcastle United are reportedly set for another boardroom addition following Amanda Staveley’s departure in the summer.

As previously reported, Newcastle is seeking to add a new board member who is connected to co-owners RB Sports & Media, who own 15% of the company. The sole board member for RB Sports & Media is Jamie Reuben, while the three board members for the majority owners are Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the chairman and PIF governor, and Abdulmajid Al-Hagbani and Asmaa Rezeeq, two PIF officials.

After Newcastle was acquired for £305 million in October 2021, Reuben and Staveley initially made up the board, and Al Rumayyan was added soon after. Since then, the composition of the board has altered slightly. Majed Al Sorour, a former chief executive of Saudi Golf, was named to the board in May 2022 and left in December of the same year.

Rezeeq and Al-Hagbani were appointed to the board in February 2023. Staveley gave up her job at the club in July.

Mehrdad Ghodoussi, her spouse, also departed from the club, despite not having an official directorship on file.

After the takeover, there have been three appointments and two departures from the board, making the new director the sixth member to change positions.

In 2024, there were big changes going on at Newcastle behind the scenes. Paul Mitchell took over for departing sporting director Dan Ashworth.

Brad Miller was named chief operations officer, while James Bunce also joined as performance director.

In the meanwhile, Howe and his staff have stuck with Newcastle’s first team despite the uncertainties and lackluster additions made to the squad during a disappointing summer transfer window.
